:: Fractional Laser Resurfacing
Stretch Marks (1)..................................................................................Acne Scars (2)

Surgical Scars(3) .............................................................................Fine Wrinkles(4)

We offer non-ablative fractional laser resurfacing which allows us to treat acne scars, wrinkles, surgical scars, and stretch marks, with minimal downtime and discomfort. We are proud to announce that we have the first FDA cleared fractional laser for the treatment of stretch marks (striae)!
The fractional laser used in our office uses microbeams of light to create columns of coagulation within the skin. These tiny columns initiate the body’s natural healing process resulting in new and healthy skin formation and improved appearance. Fractional laser resurfacing can be used to treat:
- acne scars
- surgical scars
- fine lines and wrinkles
- melasma
- stretch marks
Our laser is a great option for patients desiring little to no down-time following their procedure. Patients can typically immediately return to their daily activities following treatments. Typically, several treatment sessions separated approximately 4 weeks apart are needed to achieve the desired outcome.
The laser pulses feel like the snapping of a rubber band or warm pinpricks against the skin. A topical anesthetic may be applied prior to the start of the procedure to minimize these sensations in certain body parts.

Laser Hair Removal can be used to remove hair from just about anywhere it is unwanted, including: face, neck, armpits, bikini, arms, legs, chest, back, hands, and face. A large area of skin can be treated at one time, making laser hair removal cost-effective and faster than other methods.
Darker hair on light skinned individuals responds best to laser hair removal, but certain lasers can be effective on other colors of skin and hair as well. Dr. Akhavan or his cosmetic coordinator will be able to discuss your individual needs with you if needed.
Since the laser hair removal only effects hairs in the anagen, or growing, stage, multiple sessions separated by 4-6 weeks will be needed to treat any one area. With each session approximately 10-25% reduction of hair growth can be expected.
The site to be treated should be shaved 1-2 days prior to the procedure, or if you prefer, small areas of the body can be shaved in office on the day of the procedure. Waxing, plucking, and other methods of hair removal that remove the "root" of the hair should be avoided.

Laser hair reduction should be performed under the direct supervision of a dermatologist, a physician who specializes in the medical, surgical, and cosmetic treatment of hair and hair diseases, and who is trained to help manage hair and skin problems.

:: Laser Treatment of Age/Sun Spots (Dark Spots) and Vessels (Red Spots)
Dark spots (age spots, sun spots, liver spots, lentigo, freckles, melasma) can be safely and very effectively treated with laser therapy procedures virtually anywhere on the body.
Areas of pigment that have been treated may temporarily appear darker for several days before fading. The areas may be masked with cover-up makeup and in most cases the increased darkness is not very noticeable.
Red spots (blood vessels, angiomas, telangiectasias, rosacea, red scars, sun damage spots) can be similarly treated with laser procedures virtually anywhere on the body. Areas treated can sometimes improve on the day of the procedure, or may appear slightly more red or bruised for several days before fading away. The areas treated can be masked with cover-up makeup.
An exciting way to rejuvenate the appearance of the face is a procedure called Photofacial, where sun damage in the form of both brown and red discoloration can be treated on the same visit, leaving the skin looking younger and less damaged by UV light and the elements.
